Bio

Sándor Czingel was born in 1996 in Kecskemét, Hungary. His musical talent became evident at a very early age: as a child, he was known for his exceptional ear and pure singing voice, and he instinctively began to reproduce melodies he heard on the radio. His relationship with the piano began at the age of nine, when he started his instrumental studies under the guidance of composer Dávid Magda. He soon discovered the joy of improvisation as well — initially as a form of personal entertainment, and later as a natural extension of his increasingly conscious artistic exploration.

He continued his secondary education at the renowned Kodály School in Kecskemét, where he studied under conductor and pianist László Gerhát. His commitment to music, technical precision, and artistic sensitivity quickly set him apart from his peers, and it is no surprise that even as a high school student, he received invitations to perform abroad.

He completed his higher education at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Music (Bartók Béla Faculty of Arts), where he studied in the class of pianist Prof. Dr. Zoltán Zsigmond, earning his diploma in 2024. During his years in Szeged, not only did he broaden his musical perspective, but he was also given the opportunity to develop his pedagogical skills: in 2022, he was invited by the university to join the teaching staff, allowing him to gain valuable experience in academic instruction while still a student.

From early on, his career as a pianist attracted international attention. As a laureate of several prestigious competitions, he has performed for and received praise from renowned artists such as Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Olga Kern, Ivo Pogorelić, Gábor Farkas, and many other distinguished performers and pedagogues. He has appeared in prominent concert halls across Europe, including in Vienna, Stuttgart, Basel, and other major cities, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

His artistic interests encompass a remarkably wide spectrum — from early music to contemporary compositions. This broad repertoire forms the foundation of his concert programming, where he regularly incorporates both historical and modern works. Alongside his solo performances, he is deeply passionate about chamber music and contemporary repertoire, and has premiered works by several composers. When time allows, he also composes music himself — not competitively, but as a personal form of musical inquiry and self-expression.

His artistic philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for musical tradition, coupled with a vivid curiosity for the values and voices of the present. His aim is not only to interpret the treasures of the past with authenticity, but also to explore and communicate the sounds, thoughts, and emotions of the present — all through a rich and living musical language.
